***** Erosion & Sediment Control Contractor Certification Program - The Virginia Transportation Construction Alliance, in conjunction with the Virginia Department of Transportation, is offering the Erosion and Sediment Control Contractor Certification Program. This course is intended to train individuals involved in implementing Erosion and Sediment Control Plans on VDOT projects and rights-of-way. Participants who complete the course and pass the examination at the end of training will receive a certificate of completion. This certificate meets VDOT’s E&S certification requirements. There are no prerequisites for this course. Contractor E & S Certification Program Update A series of classes will be held throughout the state in the coming months. We are planning classes in the following areas:
***** Traffic Control on Public Highways Near Quarry Entrances & Flagger Training - The Virginia Transportation Construction Alliance, in conjunction with the Virginia Department of Transportation, is offering a half-day certification school, for the Aggregate Industry, that will cover the following topics:
***** VTCA will be sponsoring three Visible Emissions (Smoke) Schools in the Fall. The courses will be held on September 29 in Glade Spring at Mountain Materials, on October 1 in Manakin at Luck Stone, and on October 2 in Blue Ridge at Boxley Materials. The schools are designed to produce qualified observers who can make plume opacity determinations that are accurate and minimally affected by variable field conditions. To maintain valid certification under Federal law, observers are required to take the field session every six months. The classroom lecture must be taken once for initial certification and is recommended again every three years. VTCA will be utilizing Arthur Eberle of Compliance Assurance Associates, Inc. to conduct the Fall Smoke Schools. *****
